6G Arc Welder (SMAW) – Full-Time Position

Job Overview

Gulf Overseas, a leading name in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a highly skilled 6G Arc Welder (SMAW) to join our production team in Abu Dhabi. This full-time role requires expertise in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and the ability to perform complex 6G welding tasks. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of hands-on experience in welding, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality 6G position welding using SMAW techniques on various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to execute precise welds as per project specifications.
• Prepare and clean welding surfaces, ensuring proper fit-up and alignment before welding.
• Operate welding equipment safely, including power sources, electrodes, and hand tools, adhering to company and industry safety standards.
• Conduct visual inspections and basic testing of welds to ensure compliance with quality and structural integrity requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following workplace safety protocols.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production deadlines and project goals.
• Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective actions as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in SMAW welding, specifically in 6G pipe welding.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting welding blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and industry best practices.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures.
• Familiarity with welding safety standards and PPE usage.
• Higher Secondary education or equivalent; welding certification is a plus.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in 6G SMAW welding from a recognized institution.
• Experience working in the manufacturing or oil & gas sectors in the UAE.
• Knowledge of other welding techniques (TIG, MIG) is advantageous.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is on-site in Abu Dhabi and involves working in a manufacturing facility. Candidates must be able to:

• Stand, bend, or crouch for extended periods.
• Lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
• Work in environments with loud noise, fumes, and sparks.
• Wear protective gear, including helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
