JD Manpower Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and Approved Lifting Officer (APLO) for a critical role within the dynamic Oil & Gas sector. This is a full-time position based in UAE (Onshore/Offshore), specifically in the Ghantoot area of Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of dedicated experience in managing and supervising complex lifting operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency on our construction projects. We offer a competitive salary package ranging from 21 to 28 LPA for the right APLO professional.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
As our Approved Lifting Officer, you will be the cornerstone of all lifting activities, ensuring every operation is conducted with precision and an unwavering commitment to safety protocols. Your primary duties will include:
- Develop, review, and implement comprehensive lifting plans and risk assessments for all onshore and offshore construction activities.
- Supervise and direct all crane and lifting operations, ensuring strict adherence to company procedures, lift plans, and HSE regulations.
- Conduct daily pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks with the lifting team, including riggers, crane operators, and signalmen.
- Perform thorough inspections of all lifting equipment, including cranes, slings, shackles, and hoists, to ensure they are certified and in safe working condition.
- Authorize and control the suspension of lifting activities if any unsafe conditions or practices are identified, implementing immediate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all lifting equipment certifications, lift plans, risk assessments, and personnel qualifications.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to coordinate lifting schedules and ensure project timelines are met.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior lifting personnel, promoting a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with all local UAE regulations and international standards (e.g., LOLER, OSHA) governing lifting operations in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Investigate any lifting incidents or near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this high-stakes APLO role, candidates must meet the following stringent criteria:
Education & Certification
- A minimum of a Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Mandatory valid certification as an Approved Lifting Officer (APLO) from a recognized accredited body.
- Certification in Banksman Slinging and Rigging is essential.
- Valid OPITO or similar HSE certification for offshore operations (if applicable).
Experience & Skills
- A proven track record of 5-10 years of hands-on experience as an APLO, specifically within the Oil & Gas or heavy construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of lifting operations safety standards, crane capabilities, and load dynamics.
- Demonstrable experience in planning and executing critical lifts, both onshore and offshore.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisive decisions under pressure.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in harsh onshore/offshore environments.
