Key Responsibilities
As an Arc/TIG Welder (Offshore), your primary duties will include:
- Performing high-quality Arc and TIG welding on offshore oil rigs, pipelines, and structural components.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise welding execution.
- Conducting welding inspections and tests to verify integrity and compliance with industry standards (e.g., API, ASME).
- Operating and maintaining welding equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Collaborating with engineers and project managers to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
- Adhering to strict offshore safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Troubleshooting welding defects and implementing corrective measures.
- Mentoring junior welders and providing technical guidance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in Arc and TIG welding for offshore applications.
- Proficiency in welding materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes (AWS, API, ASME).
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments.
- Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
Education & Certifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Certified Welder (CW) or equivalent accreditation.
- Valid offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in offshore welding within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Familiarity with automated welding systems and robotic welding techniques.
- Prior work experience in Qatar or the Middle East.
Work Environment
This role involves:
- Working on offshore rigs and platforms in rotation-based shifts.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.
- Strict adherence to HSE policies and PPE requirements.
