Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As an Auto Electrician-Mechanic within the Oil & Gas sector, you will be entrusted with maintaining the operational readiness of a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment essential to energy production and logistics. Your expertise will ensure that specialized machinery remains functional in demanding environments.
Electrical Systems Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical faults in vehicles, including light and heavy-duty equipment used in oil field operations
- Install, maintain, and repair automotive electrical systems, including starting systems, charging systems, lighting systems, and electronic controls
- Utilize advanced auto diagnostic systems and software to identify issues in electronic components and computer-controlled systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals specific to oil and gas equipment
Mechanical Systems Integration
- Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and services according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards
- Collaborate with mechanical teams to ensure integrated vehicle systems operate efficiently and safely
- Fabricate and modify electrical components and mounting systems for specialized oil field equipment
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures specific to the Oil & Gas industry, including hazardous area classifications
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on company vehicles and equipment
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements
- Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
To excel in this dual-role position, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, hands-on experience, and specialized skills relevant to vehicle electrical and mechanical systems in industrial settings.
Education & Certification
- Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field from an accredited institution
- Certification in auto electrical systems, electronics, or related specialties preferred
- Valid driver's license and any necessary certifications for operating equipment in the UAE
Professional Experience
- 3-5 years of proven experience as an Auto Electrician, Automotive Mechanic, or similar role, preferably within the Oil & Gas, construction, or heavy equipment industries
- Demonstrated expertise with various auto diagnostic systems and tools (e.g., OEM-specific scanners, multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- Experience working with specialized oil field vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and industrial equipment
- Background in maintaining equipment in challenging environments with strict safety requirements
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, including CAN bus, LIN bus, and other network systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals for various vehicle makes and models
- Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in hazardous work environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail when working with complex vehicle systems
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various environmental conditions typical of oil field operations
