About the Role
Dewan Consultants is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our Facilities Management team in Downtown Dubai, UAE. This full-time position requires expertise in woodworking and general carpentry tasks, including constructing, installing, and repairing structures made of wood and other materials. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of hands-on experience, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to specifications.
- Construct and install wooden structures such as furniture, doors, window frames, staircases, and partitions.
- Repair or replace damaged woodwork in residential or commercial buildings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine job requirements.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including saws, drills, sanders, and routers.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with local building codes.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and construction team members to complete projects on time.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Estimate material and labor costs for carpentry projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in woodworking techniques and carpentry tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair.
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and stand for long periods.
- Attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation or Diploma in Carpentry, Woodworking, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience as a Carpenter in Facilities Management or construction.
- Familiarity with UAE building codes and regulations is a plus.
