Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Carpenter specializing in formwork, your primary focus will be creating the molds into which concrete is poured to form structural components. Your daily tasks will include:

• Precisely measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials according to specifications
• Install building frameworks including walls, floors, and doorframes with exceptional accuracy
• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials
• Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures to maintain structural integrity
• Operate various tools and machinery including saws, planes, sanders, chisels, and drills safely and efficiently
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools and equipment
• Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel
• Shape and cut materials to precise measurements using hand tools, machines, or power tools
• Construct concrete formwork for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and other structural elements
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Collaborate with other construction professionals including foremen, engineers, and other tradespeople

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Essential Education & Certification

• ITI certification in Carpentry or related field is mandatory
• Additional certification in construction or formwork is highly desirable

Required Experience

• 1-3 years of professional experience as a Carpenter in the construction industry
• Demonstrated experience with formwork installation for concrete structures
• Proven track record of working on commercial or large-scale residential projects
• Experience reading and interpreting technical documents and blueprints

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Expert knowledge of wood, wood properties, and other carpentry materials
• Proficiency with carpentry tools, both hand tools and power tools
• Strong mathematical skills for taking measurements and calculating dimensions
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions
