Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Choke Operator to join our Operations team in the Oil & Gas sector. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in operating well control equipment and possess an ITI certification. This is a full-time position based in Wadi Kabir, Muscat, Oman.
As a Choke Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of choke systems, maintaining well pressure, and supporting drilling and production activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor choke manifolds to regulate well pressure and flow rates.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on choke valves and related equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards to prevent accidents and equipment failure.
- Assist in well control operations during drilling, completions, and workovers.
- Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to optimize well performance.
- Document operational data, including pressure readings and equipment status.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with choke systems.
- Follow environmental and regulatory compliance guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- ITI certification or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Choke Operator or in a similar role within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven expertise in operating well control equipment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of choke systems, valves, and pressure regulation.
- Ability to read and interpret pressure gauges and control panels.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness to work in challenging field conditions.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Wadi Kabir, Muscat, Oman, and requires working in outdoor and industrial settings. Candidates must be prepared for:
