Civil Chargehand Job Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Chargehand to join our construction team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This full-time role is critical in supervising and coordinating civil construction activities within the Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and at least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise construction teams to ensure timely and quality execution of civil works.
- Oversee daily site operations, including material handling, labor deployment, and equipment usage.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project specifications are met.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company policies on-site.
- Report progress, challenges, and resource requirements to senior management.
- Ensure proper maintenance of tools, machinery, and construction materials.
- Train and mentor junior staff to enhance productivity and skill levels.
- Assist in planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Graduate degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in civil construction or maintenance roles.
- Proven experience in supervisory or team leadership positions.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and quality standards in construction.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the UAE construction industry.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Knowledge of local regulations and construction codes in Abu Dhabi.
Work Environment
The Civil Chargehand will primarily work on construction sites in Abu Dhabi City, requiring physical stamina and adaptability to outdoor conditions. The role involves regular interaction with laborers, engineers, and project managers.
