Key Responsibilities and Daily Duties

As a Junior Construction Planner, your core function is to support the project management team by providing detailed and accurate planning services. Your daily tasks will be crucial for keeping our oil and gas construction projects on track and within scope.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard software like Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to gather progress updates and incorporate them into the master schedule.
  • Perform critical path analysis and identify potential schedule delays, providing proactive solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports, dashboards, and schedule updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in resource allocation and leveling to optimize manpower and equipment usage on construction sites.
  • Support the development of baseline schedules and ensure all planning activities align with project objectives and contractual requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings, offering insights and updates on schedule performance and forecasting.
  • Review and incorporate client and contractor schedules into the overall project plan.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all schedule versions, changes, and updates for auditing purposes.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this Construction Planner role, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, relevant experience, and specific technical skills within the oil and gas construction industry.

Education & Experience

  • A Graduation degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience in a construction planning role, with a significant portion spent on oil and gas projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing EPC schedules for large industrial projects.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Expert-level proficiency in project scheduling software, primarily Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform critical path method (CPM) analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of risk management and its application to project scheduling.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
