Key Responsibilities and Duties
As a Control Room Operator, you will be entrusted with a wide array of critical tasks essential for the smooth and secure operation of a premier real estate asset. Your primary focus will be on maintaining 24/7 operational integrity.
Operational Monitoring and Systems Management
- Continuously monitor and operate the integrated Building Management System (BMS) and other critical control systems from the central control room.
- Perform specialized, real-time monitoring of Diesel Generator (DG) systems, including load levels, fuel status, run-time parameters, and switchover operations to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
- Oversee surveillance systems, access control protocols, and alarm panels to ensure comprehensive site security and safety.
- Log all system readings, operational data, and incidents accurately in the daily shift reports and electronic logs.
Emergency Response and Incident Handling
- Act as the first point of contact for all emergency situations, triggering appropriate response protocols in line with company policies.
- Coordinate swiftly with security, maintenance, and facilities teams to address and resolve operational disruptions, system faults, or alarms.
- Execute emergency procedures for critical systems, including fire alarms, power failures, and other life safety systems.
Communication and Coordination
- Maintain constant and clear communication with field technicians, engineers, and security personnel to direct them to fault locations and verify resolution.
- Liaise with utility providers and external contractors during scheduled maintenance or unexpected outages.
- Provide precise and timely information to the Operations Manager regarding system performance and critical incidents.
Preventive Maintenance and Reporting
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating preventive maintenance activities for all systems under the control room's purview.
- Generate detailed reports on system performance, energy consumption trends, and incident analysis to support operational improvements.
- Ensure all control room equipment and software are functioning correctly and report any malfunctions for immediate repair.
Candidate Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this demanding Control Room Operator position, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, specific technical skills, and proven experience.
Education & Experience
- A Graduation or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a closely related field is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience as a Control Room Operator, specifically within the real estate, critical facilities, or hospitality industry.
- Demonstrable, extensive experience in the operation and monitoring of DG systems is a non-negotiable requirement.
Essential Technical Skills
- Expertise in DG Systems: In-depth knowledge of diesel generator operation, parallel operation systems, automatic transfer switches, and related power management systems.
- BMS Proficiency: Proven ability to operate and interpret data from advanced Building Management Systems (BMS) and SCADA systems.
- Security Systems: Competence in using CCTV surveillance networks, access control systems, and fire alarm panels.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills to diagnose system faults and implement preliminary corrective actions.
