Corrosion Engineer – Oil & Gas Industry
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Corrosion Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Kuwait City, Kuwait. This full-time role focuses on mitigating corrosion risks in oil and gas infrastructure through advanced engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of industry experience, specializing in Cathodic Protection System Design and related corrosion control methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and oversee cathodic protection (CP) systems for pipelines, tanks, and offshore structures.
- Conduct corrosion risk assessments and failure analysis to identify vulnerabilities in oil and gas assets.
- Develop corrosion mitigation strategies in compliance with industry standards (e.g., NACE, API, ASME).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate corrosion control measures into project designs.
- Monitor and optimize existing CP systems to ensure long-term asset integrity.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for corrosion-related projects.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and field personnel.
- Stay updated with advancements in corrosion engineering technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Corrosion Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications such as NACE CP Specialist or NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist are highly preferred.
Experience
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in corrosion engineering, specifically in the oil and gas industry.
- Proven expertise in cathodic protection system design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with corrosion monitoring tools (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, and electrochemical techniques).
- Experience working in Middle Eastern oilfields is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in software tools like COMSOL, MATLAB, or specialized CP modeling software.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work in harsh environments and adhere to strict safety protocols.
Work Environment
This role is based in Kuwait City (Al Asimah Governorate) and requires on-site presence at oilfield locations. The position involves occasional travel to remote sites and offshore facilities. Candidates must be prepared to work in challenging conditions while maintaining compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
