Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Planning Engineer specializing in Refractory and Scaffolding, you will be at the heart of our project execution team. Your expertise will ensure that all planning and scheduling activities are conducted with precision and foresight.

  • Develop comprehensive and detailed project plans for refractory installation and maintenance projects, outlining scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Design and engineer robust scaffolding plans that adhere to stringent safety codes and provide optimal access for construction and maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including design, construction, procurement, and health & safety, to ensure project alignment.
  • Monitor ongoing project progress against established baselines, identifying potential delays or bottlenecks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present detailed progress reports, resource utilization charts, and project forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Utilize advanced project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to create schedules, track milestones, and manage critical paths.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for all planned activities, particularly for high-temperature refractory works and elevated scaffolding operations.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with international standards, company policies, and local Saudi Arabian regulations.
  • Manage material take-offs (MTOs) and coordinate with the supply chain to ensure timely availability of refractory materials and scaffolding equipment.
  • Continuously review and optimize planning processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall project delivery.

Education, Skills & Experience Requirements

To excel in this technical planning role, the ideal candidate will possess a blend of formal education, practical skills, and relevant industry experience.

Education & Certification

  • A Graduation or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or Construction Management are highly advantageous.
  • Certification in scaffolding design or inspection (e.g., CISRS, OSHA) would be a significant asset.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on experience in planning and scheduling, specifically within refractory, scaffolding, or heavy industrial manufacturing projects.
  • Proven track record of developing project plans for industrial maintenance, turnarounds, or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with the specific challenges of planning in a high-temperature manufacturing environment is preferred.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Expertise in planning methodologies and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of refractory materials, their applications, and installation techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of scaffolding types, design standards, and load calculations.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel for data analysis, reporting, and creating tracking tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
