Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Structural-Mechanical Piping Engineer at our company, you will be at the heart of our engineering projects, responsible for the seamless integration of structural integrity, mechanical systems, and piping networks. Your expertise will be critical from the conceptual design phase through to final site execution and commissioning.
Design and Engineering
- Develop and review detailed design drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural components, mechanical equipment, and piping systems in accordance with international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AISC).
- Utilize advanced engineering software for stress analysis, modeling, and drafting to create robust and efficient design solutions for oil and gas facilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, process, and electrical engineers, to ensure design coherence and project alignment.
- Prepare technical documentation, material take-offs (MTO), and procurement packages for equipment and materials.
Site Execution and Project Management
- Provide expert oversight and supervision during the site execution phase, ensuring all construction activities adhere to approved designs, quality plans, and safety protocols.
- Resolve technical queries and troubleshoot issues related to structural fabrication, mechanical installation, and piping erection that arise on-site.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and client representatives to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and ensure compliance with all relevant oil & gas industry regulations and best practices.
Technical Support and Commissioning
- Offer continuous technical support during the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases of projects.
- Ensure all systems are installed correctly and perform as per design specifications, facilitating a smooth handover to the client.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Requirements
Essential Education
- A valid ITI certification in a relevant engineering trade (e.g., Fitter, Mechanic, Draughtsman, Welder) is mandatory.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive, hands-on experience in a similar Structural-Mechanical Piping role.
- Proven track record in the oil & gas industry, specifically with upstream, midstream, or downstream projects.
- Demonstrable experience in both design engineering and field execution is essential.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, GA layouts, and structural steel drawings.
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, standards, support design, and stress analysis concepts.
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
- Understanding of structural design principles for foundations, steel structures, and pipe racks.
- Competence in using relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, SP3D, STAAD.Pro) is a significant advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction.
