Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Fire Fighting Technician, your expertise will be critical in maintaining the integrity and reliability of all fire protection systems. Your daily tasks will encompass a wide range of technical and safety-oriented functions.
System Maintenance & Inspection
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance on all fire fighting equipment, including fire hydrants, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire pumps.
- Conduct thorough weekly, monthly, and annual inspections as mandated by company policy and international safety standards (NFPA, Qatar Civil Defence).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex faults within fire suppression and detection systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Maintain detailed and accurate logs of all inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and tests for audit and compliance purposes.
Repair & Emergency Response
- Execute timely repairs and replacements of faulty components, valves, pipes, control panels, and alarm devices.
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls and system faults, providing effective solutions to restore system functionality.
- Coordinate with the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department during drills and actual emergency situations.
Compliance & Safety Leadership
- Ensure all fire fighting systems are fully operational and compliant with local Qatari regulations and international fire codes.
- Assist in training plant personnel on the basic operation of fire extinguishers and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Participate in risk assessment activities and recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance fire safety.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this technically demanding role, the ideal candidate must possess a strong foundation in fire safety engineering and practical hands-on experience.
Mandatory Education & Certification
- A valid ITI certification in Fire Fighting, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field is essential.
- Certification or training in NFPA standards or equivalent is highly desirable.
Essential Experience & Technical Skills
- A proven track record of 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Fire Fighting Technician, specifically within a manufacturing, industrial, or large-scale facility environment.
- Expert-level knowledge in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of a wide array of fire protection systems (e.g., wet/dry sprinkler systems, deluge systems, foam systems, gaseous suppression systems).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and hydraulic calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure during critical situations.
