Fire Watcher Position - Oil & Gas Industry
Job Overview
International Overseas Consultants is seeking an experienced Fire Watcher for a critical role in Kuwait's dynamic Oil & Gas industry. This full-time position requires a dedicated professional with 3-5 years of specialized experience in fire safety and prevention within industrial settings. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of safety awareness and emergency preparedness at our facilities in the Dasman area of Kuwait City.
Position Highlights
Key Responsibilities
As a Fire Watcher in the Oil & Gas sector, you will be responsible for maintaining constant vigilance and implementing comprehensive fire prevention measures. Your duties will encompass:
- Maintain continuous fire watch during hot work operations including welding, cutting, grinding, and other activities that generate sparks or heat
- Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify and eliminate potential fire hazards before they become dangerous
- Monitor atmospheric conditions and ensure proper ventilation in confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments
- Verify the availability and operational readiness of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and other emergency equipment
- Implement and enforce hot work permit procedures in accordance with company policy and international safety standards
- Maintain detailed logs and records of fire watch activities, inspections, and any incidents that occur during shifts
- Coordinate with safety officers, supervisors, and other personnel to ensure comprehensive fire prevention coverage
- Respond immediately to any fire emergencies using appropriate extinguishing methods and activating emergency protocols
- Conduct pre-work safety briefings with crew members to communicate potential fire hazards and prevention measures
- Monitor weather conditions that could affect fire risk, including wind speed and direction that might spread sparks
- Ensure proper storage and handling of flammable materials according to safety regulations and best practices
- Participate in regular fire drills and emergency response training sessions to maintain preparedness
- Communicate effectively with all team members regarding safety procedures and emergency evacuation routes
The Fire Watcher position requires unwavering attention to detail and the ability to remain alert during extended periods of monitoring. You will serve as the first line of defense against fire-related incidents in high-risk industrial environments.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate for this Fire Watcher position will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Education & Certification
- ITI Certification in relevant field (Fire Safety, Industrial Safety, or equivalent)
- Additional certification in fire fighting, fire prevention, or industrial safety is highly desirable
- Valid fire watch certification from a recognized training institution
- Completion of basic first aid and CPR training certifications
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Fire Watcher in the Oil & Gas industry or similar industrial setting
- Proven track record in implementing effective fire prevention measures in high-risk environments
- Experience with hot work permit systems and safety procedures
- Familiarity with international safety standards and regulations applicable to the Oil & Gas sector
- Previous experience in emergency response situations is highly valued
