About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Firewatcher to join our Maintenance team in Abu Dhabi. The Firewatcher will be responsible for monitoring fire hazards, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and responding to emergencies in the Oil & Gas and Engineering & Construction sectors. This role is critical in maintaining a safe working environment and preventing fire-related incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect work areas for potential fire hazards.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate and maintain fire detection and suppression equipment.
- Conduct regular fire safety audits and risk assessments.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms and emergencies.
- Coordinate with emergency response teams during incidents.
- Maintain accurate logs of fire safety inspections and incidents.
- Educate employees on fire safety best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in fire safety monitoring and hazard identification.
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Ability to operate fire safety equipment.
- Basic knowledge of fire suppression techniques.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Education & Experience:
- Graduation or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., Fire Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science).
- 1-3 years of experience in fire safety or a related role, preferably in the Oil & Gas or Construction industry.
- Fire safety certification (e.g., NFPA, OSHA, or equivalent) is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The Firewatcher role involves working in high-risk environments, including construction sites and Oil & Gas facilities. Candidates should be prepared for:
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended durations.
- Working in shifts, including nights and weekends, if required.
