Key Responsibilities and Duties

As a Flagman within our HSE department, you will be the frontline guardian of safety for all personnel and assets within the work zone. Your expertise in signal management will be instrumental in preventing accidents and ensuring operational continuity.

  • Execute precise traffic control and signaling procedures to safely direct vehicle and equipment movement around construction and work zones.
  • Utilize standardized hand signals, flags, lights, and signage to communicate clearly with operators, drivers, and ground personnel.
  • Establish and maintain safe work zones by setting up appropriate barricades, warning signs, and traffic delineators in compliance with company and international safety standards.
  • Maintain constant vigilance and situational awareness to identify potential hazards related to moving equipment, changing site conditions, and pedestrian traffic.
  • Coordinate closely with construction supervisors, crane operators, and truck drivers to facilitate safe loading, unloading, and maneuvering of materials.
  • Monitor and enforce strict adherence to all site-specific safety protocols and speed limits within the operational area.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for emergency response within your area of control, initiating alarms and following established emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Conduct daily inspections of personal protective equipment (PPE) and traffic control gear to ensure everything is in optimal working condition.
  • Participate actively in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings, providing input on traffic management plans and potential risks.
  • Accurately complete and file all required daily log sheets and incident reports related to traffic movements and near-miss events.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this demanding role, candidates must meet a specific set of educational, experiential, and skill-based criteria designed to ensure the highest level of safety and professionalism on site.

Essential Education & Certification

  • A valid ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in a relevant trade is mandatory.
  • Additional certification in traffic control, flagging, or site safety from a recognized institution is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a valid basic first aid and CPR certification.

Required Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 5-10 yearsFlagman, specifically within the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrable, expert-level proficiency in traffic and signal management in work zones.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other international HSE standards pertaining to traffic management and construction site safety.
  • Exceptional situational awareness and the ability to remain focused and alert for extended periods in a high-risk environment.
  • Strong, clear communication skills and the ability to give and follow commands authoritatively and effectively.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to stand for long hours and work in various outdoor weather conditions typical of Saudi Arabia.
