Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Grit Blaster (Offshore) to join our dynamic team in Qatar. This is a full-time role within the Oil & Gas sector, requiring expertise in surface preparation, grit blasting, and adherence to SSPC/NACE standards. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in offshore operations, ensuring high-quality surface treatment for industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform grit blasting and surface preparation tasks in offshore environments.
- Ensure compliance with SSPC/NACE standards for surface cleanliness and coating adhesion.
- Operate and maintain blasting equipment, including compressors, hoses, and nozzles.
- Conduct pre- and post-blasting inspections to verify surface quality.
- Work closely with coating applicators to ensure seamless workflow.
- Follow strict safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Document work progress, equipment condition, and compliance reports.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior team members.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report maintenance issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
- Graduation or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology).
- SSPC/NACE certification or equivalent in surface preparation.
- Offshore survival and safety training (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) is a plus.
Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in grit blasting and surface treatment.
- Proven track record in offshore Oil & Gas projects.
- Familiarity with abrasive blasting materials (e.g., steel grit, garnet, aluminum oxide).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot blasting equipment.
- Strong understanding of corrosion prevention and coating systems.
Soft Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in high-pressure offshore environments.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role involves working in challenging offshore conditions, including:
- Exposure to extreme weather, noise, and vibrations.
- Working at heights or in confined spaces when required.
- Lifting heavy equipment (up to 25 kg).
- Wearing protective gear for extended periods.
Candidates must be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
