Job Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of construction machinery. Your key duties will include:

• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and cranes.
• Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to prevent breakdowns.
• Overhauling and replacing faulty components, including engines, transmissions, and brake systems.
• Interpreting technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot equipment.
• Ensuring all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
• Keeping detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Collaborating with other team members to meet project deadlines.
• Operating diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to assess machinery performance.
• Providing guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: ITI certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preferably within the construction industry.
• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Tool Proficiency: Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Physical Stamina: Capability to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.
• Safety-Conscious: Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols and OSHA standards.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
• Adaptability: Willingness to work overtime or weekends when necessary.

Preferred Skills

While not mandatory, the following skills will be considered an advantage:

• Certification from a recognized heavy equipment training program.
• Experience working with diesel engines and fuel systems.
• Familiarity with computerized diagnostic software.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic construction environment, which may include:

• Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to loud noises, dust, and hazardous materials (with provided PPE).
• Traveling to different job sites within Abu Dhabi as required.
