Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a vital member of our mechanical engineering department, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all heavy machinery on our construction sites. Your primary duties will include:
- Performing diagnostic troubleshooting on complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy equipment.
- Conducting routine and preventive maintenance on a fleet of construction equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational safety.
- Repairing and rebuilding components such as diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, and hydraulic pumps.
- Adhering to strict safety protocols and regulations mandated by the oil and gas construction industry.
- Utilizing diagnostic software and technical manuals to accurately identify and resolve equipment faults.
- Maintaining detailed service reports, logs, and records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Coordinating with the operations team to schedule maintenance without disrupting critical project timelines.
- Ordering necessary parts and managing inventory for common repairs and replacements.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:
Education & Certification
- A Graduation degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE Certification, Heavy Equipment Technician Certification) are highly desirable.
Experience & Skills
- 5-10 years of proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, specifically within the oil and gas construction sector.
- Expert knowledge of heavy equipment management principles, including preventive maintenance programs.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and powertrains.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and OEM manuals.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Physical & Logistical Requirements
- Must be physically capable of lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- This is an on-site position in Al Murabba, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Remote work is not available.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Saudi Arabia. Visa and relocation assistance will be discussed with selected candidates.
