The ideal candidate will be a certified ITI professional with 5-10 years of dedicated, hands-on mechanical experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and overhauling compressor and turbine machinery. Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a Highly Skilled Comp-Turb Technician near me in Doha, your primary focus will be on the mechanical integrity of critical rotating equipment. Your daily responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical tasks requiring precision and expertise.
- Perform detailed preventive and predictive maintenance on centrifugal and axial compressors, gas turbines, and steam turbines to ensure maximum reliability and availability.
- Execute complex disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of compressor and turbine units in accordance with OEM technical manuals and engineering specifications.
- Conduct precise mechanical alignment checks using laser alignment tools and other precision instruments for shafts, couplings, and gears.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, vibration issues, and performance deficiencies in turbomachinery, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Perform detailed clearance and tolerance measurements (e.g., bearing clearances, seal gaps, rotor axial float) during assembly and overhaul activities.
- Collaborate closely with reliability engineers and operations personnel to develop and improve maintenance procedures and strategies.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history logs within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry-standard safety protocols, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and confined space entry procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
- Support emergency breakdown repairs and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for major equipment failures.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this Comp-Turb Technician role within the mechanical engineering department, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education & Certification
- ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification in Fitter, Mechanical, or a directly related trade is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in turbomachinery maintenance, alignment, or vibration analysis from recognized bodies (e.g., ISO CAT I/II, API) are a significant advantage.
Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 yearsOil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power Generation industries.
- Demonstrated, expert-level mechanical aptitude with a deep understanding of the principles of operation for major rotating equipment.
- Proven proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and OEM technical documentation.
- Extensive practical experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges) and alignment tools (laser alignment systems).
- Solid experience in the installation and maintenance of fluid film bearings, mechanical seals, coupling systems, and gearboxes.
