HVAC Design Engineer Position Overview

Key Responsibilities and Duties
As an HVAC Design Engineer at JobsGlobal, you will be at the forefront of our project execution, ensuring all mechanical systems are designed for optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability. Your core responsibilities will encompass:
- Designing and developing comprehensive HVAC system plans, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air conditioning layouts for new construction and renovation projects.
- Performing detailed heat load calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., HAP, Carrier Hourly Analysis) to determine system requirements and equipment sizing.
- Creating detailed ductwork and piping system designs, including material specifications, pressure drop calculations, and equipment selection.
- Collaborating closely with architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into overall building designs.
- Preparing technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other design tools.
- Ensuring all designs comply with international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA), local UAE regulations, and client-specific requirements.
- Conducting site visits to survey conditions, oversee installation, troubleshoot design issues, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate HVAC equipment, such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, and ventilation fans, based on project needs and energy efficiency goals.
- Participating in project meetings, providing technical guidance, and supporting the project management team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing shop drawings and material submittals from contractors to ensure alignment with the approved design intent.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this technical role, the candidate must possess a strong blend of formal education and practical hands-on experience in mechanical building services.
Education & Certification
- A Graduation/Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional engineering certification or membership in a recognized engineering institution (e.g., ASHRAE) is a significant advantage.
Experience & Technical Skills
- A proven track record of 5-10 years in HVAC system design within the construction or consulting engineering industry.
- Expert-level proficiency in HVAC design software, including but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and load calculation programs.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, psychrometrics, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
- Strong familiarity with ductwork design, chilled water systems, VRF systems, and air distribution systems.
- Experience with energy modeling and a solid understanding of sustainable design practices and LEED certification is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working on large-scale projects in the UAE or GCC region is preferred.
