Hydrojetter - Oil & Gas Pipeline Cleaning Specialist

Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Hydrojetting Technician, your primary duty will be to operate high-pressure water jetting systems to remove blockages, scale, debris, and other contaminants from pipelines and vessels. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the flow and efficiency of critical oil and gas operations.

• Operate and maintain high-pressure water jetting pumps, hoses, lances, and nozzles for effective pipeline descaling and cleaning.
• Perform pre-job inspections of all hydrojetting equipment, including pressure gauges, hoses, and safety systems, to ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.
• Execute cleaning procedures according to specific project plans and safety guidelines, ensuring complete removal of obstructions without damaging pipeline integrity.
• Coordinate with maintenance supervisors and field engineers to plan and execute hydrojetting tasks with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
• Adhere strictly to all company and client-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, including confined space entry procedures, permit-to-work systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues with hydrojetting equipment, performing basic repairs and reporting major faults to the maintenance manager.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed, including pressure settings, nozzle types used, linear meters cleaned, and any issues encountered.
• Handle and store all equipment and chemicals safely, in accordance with material safety data sheets (MSDS) and environmental regulations.
• Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings, contributing to a culture of continuous safety improvement.
• Train and mentor junior operators on proper hydrojetting techniques, safety protocols, and equipment handling procedures.

Hydrojetter Qualifications & Requirements

To be successful in this physically demanding role, candidates must meet the following criteria and possess a strong commitment to safety and precision.

Education & Certification

• Minimum ITI certification in a relevant trade (Fitter, Mechanic, or equivalent).
• Certification in high-pressure water jetting operation from a recognized institution is highly desirable.
• Valid certification in H2S awareness, confined space entry, and basic first aid is a strong advantage.

Experience & Skills

• 5-10 years of proven, hands-on experience operating high-pressure water jetting equipment, specifically within the Oil & Gas industry or a similar heavy industrial environment.
• Expert knowledge of pipeline systems, including an understanding of different diameters, materials, and common blockage types.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot issues with pumps, hoses, and nozzles.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging environments, including confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to following safety procedures without compromise.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and project plans.
