This is an exceptional opportunity for qualified professionals with 5-10 years of specialized experience in pressure testing and leak detection to advance their careers on both onshore and offshore facilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of pipeline systems and pressure vessels through meticulous hydrostatic testing procedures. Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Hydrotest Engineer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you will be entrusted with a range of critical tasks essential to project success and operational safety. Your primary focus will be on planning, supervising, and executing all hydrostatic testing activities.

  • Develop, review, and approve detailed hydrotest procedures, plans, and schematics (P&IDs) for complex pipeline and piping systems.
  • Lead the preparation of hydrotest packages, including all necessary calculations for test pressures, water requirements, and chemical dosing.
  • Manage the safe and efficient execution of hydrostatic tests, pneumatic tests, and leak tests on various systems in accordance with ASME, API, and client-specific standards.
  • Supervise a team of technicians and operators during the filling, pressurization, dewatering, and drying phases of the hydrotest process.
  • Perform precise leak detection using advanced methods and diagnostic tools, meticulously documenting any anomalies or failures.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, third-party inspectors, and certification authorities to witness tests and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols, conducting toolbox talks and risk assessments (JSA) before commencing any testing activity.
  • Oversee the chemical treatment of hydrotest water to prevent internal corrosion and ensure environmental compliance before disposal.
  • Maintain accurate records, test reports, and as-built documentation for all testing activities, providing detailed handover packages to the client.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the testing phase, such as pressure drops, equipment malfunctions, or access problems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To be considered for this senior-level Hydrotest Engineer role, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, relevant certifications, and substantial hands-on experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Mandatory certification in OPITO-approved H2S and Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) for offshore assignments.
  • Formal training and certification in pressurized safety systems and permit-to-work protocols.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of direct, hands-on experience as a Hydrotest Engineer, specifically within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Demonstrable expertise in pressure testing and leak detection methodologies for subsea pipelines, topside piping, and wellhead equipment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, and pipeline alignment sheets.
  • Strong practical knowledge of hydrotest pump equipment, pressure gauges, recorders, and data acquisition systems.
  • Proven experience in writing technical procedures and method statements for hydrotesting operations.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 1110, and ASME Section V and VIII.
