Job Overview

As an In Process Inspector (Technician), you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of automotive components during the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for monitoring production stages, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions to prevent quality issues. This position requires a thorough understanding of quality control principles, precision measurement techniques, and adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in in-process inspection, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of duties essential to maintaining product quality and compliance. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting in-process inspections at various stages of production to identify deviations from quality standards.
• Using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Documenting inspection results, including non-conformances, and maintaining detailed records for traceability.
• Collaborating with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Performing visual inspections and tests to ensure components meet specified tolerances and specifications.
• Monitoring process parameters and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Participating in root cause analysis and quality improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability.
• Ensuring all inspection activities align with ISO and automotive industry standards.
• Training production staff on quality awareness and inspection techniques as needed.
• Supporting the quality assurance team in audits and compliance checks.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in in-process inspection within the automotive industry.
• Skills: Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, with a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and automotive standards.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional observational skills to detect defects and ensure product conformity.
• Analytical Abilities: Capable of analyzing data, identifying trends, and recommending improvements.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to report findings and collaborate with teams.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.

Preferred qualifications include certification in quality control (e.g., CQI, ASQ) and experience with statistical process control (SPC).
