Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our Operations team in Kuwait City. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing instrumentation and control systems in our Oil & Gas facilities. This hands-on role requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, test, and maintain various instrumentation systems including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement devices
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on control valves, transmitters, and other field instrumentation
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in instrumentation and control systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools
- Calibrate instruments to ensure accurate measurements and proper system operation complying with industry standards
- Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and loop diagrams for system installation and troubleshooting
- Program and configure DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems as required for process control applications
- Maintain detailed records of calibration, maintenance activities, and equipment performance
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to optimize control system performance
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures for working in hazardous environments
- Stay updated with the latest instrumentation technologies and industry best practices
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Doctorate degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Certification in instrumentation calibration (ISA or equivalent preferred)
- Additional certifications in hazardous area operations (ATEX, IECEx) are advantageous
Experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an Instrumentation Technician in Oil & Gas industry
- Proven experience with calibration of various instrumentation systems
- Familiarity with industry-standard instrumentation (Rosemount, Yokogawa, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience working with hazardous area classification systems
- Knowledge of international standards (API, ANSI, ISA, etc.)
Technical Skills
- Expertise in calibration procedures and techniques
- Proficiency in troubleshooting instrumentation loops and control systems
- Ability to use test equipment (multimeters, signal generators, HART communicators)
- Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems
- Basic knowledge of process control and automation systems
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts if required
Work Environment
This position requires working in Oil & Gas facilities which may include:
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
- Working at heights or in confined spaces when necessary
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials (with proper PPE provided)
- Use of personal protective equipment as required by safety regulations
- Occasional overtime or emergency call-outs
