Insulator Position Overview
Seagull International LLP, a premier Human Resource consultancy serving the global energy sector, is actively recruiting skilled Insulators for major Oil & Gas projects in Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Al-Naseem district of Riyadh, requiring extensive expertise in thermal insulation installation for industrial applications. The ideal candidate will possess an ITI certification and a proven track record of 5-10 years in implementing insulation systems that ensure operational efficiency, personnel safety, and environmental protection within demanding energy facilities.
This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of pipelines, vessels, and equipment in extreme temperatures, directly contributing to the facility's energy conservation goals and overall safety protocols. We are looking for dedicated professionals committed to excellence in the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As an Insulator with our client in the Oil & Gas industry, your primary function will be to apply, remove, and repair insulation materials on industrial equipment, pipes, ducts, and vessels. Your work is essential for temperature control, condensation prevention, and fireproofing, ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently.
- Measure and cut insulation materials to the required specifications using various hand and power tools, including knives, scissors, saws, and seaming equipment.
- Apply insulation materials such as foam, fiberglass, cork, and reflective sheets to pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems according to technical blueprints and design specifications.
- Install protective covers and jacketing over insulation to shield it from weather, physical damage, and chemical erosion, often using aluminum, stainless steel, or PVC sheets.
- Read and interpret intricate mechanical drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and isometrics to determine the precise type, thickness, and sequence of insulation required.
- Work collaboratively with pipefitters, welders, and other construction trades to coordinate workflow and ensure insulation is applied correctly without obstructing other systems.
- Strictly adhere to all company and client-mandated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies, including wearing appropriate PPE, conducting toolbox talks, and identifying potential job site hazards.
- Inspect surfaces to be insulated for cleanliness, structural soundness, and proper preparation before commencing work.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, work progress, and any issues encountered on the job site for reporting to supervisors.
- Remove old or damaged insulation, ensuring proper disposal in accordance with environmental regulations, particularly when handling materials like asbestos (following strict containment procedures).
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting efficiency gains in installation techniques or material usage.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this high-stakes role, candidates must meet the following criteria and possess a strong foundation in industrial insulation practices.
Essential Education & Certification
- A valid ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification in a relevant trade (e.g., Insulator, Mechanical Fitter) is mandatory.
- Certification in fundamental safety training (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Additional specialized training in working at heights, confined space entry, or specific insulation material handling is a significant advantage.
Mandatory Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 yearsthermal insulation installation, specifically within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or power generation industries.
- Demonstrable proficiency with all common insulation materials (calcium silicate, mineral wool, cellular glass, aerogel, etc.) and application methods for both hot and cold systems.
- Expert ability to read and decipher complex engineering drawings, isometries, and technical manuals.
- Proven experience installing metal jacketing (aluminum, stainless steel) and fabricating complex weather barriers.
- A solid, verifiable safety record with a deep understanding of HSE principles and lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures.
