Key Responsibilities and Duties
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer at Ambe International, you will be at the forefront of our engineering endeavors. Your core duties will encompass a wide range of technical and leadership functions critical to the success of our Oil & Gas projects.
- Lead the mechanical design and engineering efforts for new and existing Oil & Gas facilities, ensuring all work meets client specifications and international standards.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle for mechanical systems, from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of junior and senior mechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment within the Mechanical Engineering department.
- Perform rigorous technical reviews and approvals of engineering drawings, designs, calculations, and documentation, including P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and material take-offs.
- Specify and select major mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, turbines, and piping systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines (process, civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure integrated and seamless project execution.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for mechanical deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct risk assessments, failure mode analyses, and root cause investigations to proactively identify and mitigate potential engineering issues.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ASME, API, ANSI, and company-specific safety procedures.
- Provide expert technical support to the construction and commissioning teams on site, resolving any mechanical issues that arise during project execution.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
To be considered for this senior mechanical role, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, proven experience, and specific technical competencies.
Education & Core Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a mechanical engineering capacity, with a significant portion dedicated to the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry.
- Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role, demonstrating the ability to manage projects and mentor engineering personnel effectively.
- Extensive hands-on experience with mechanical system design, including piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and package units.
Essential Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and material science.
- High proficiency in industry-standard engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PV Elite, CAESAR II) and MS Office Suite.
- In-depth understanding of international codes and standards relevant to the Oil & Gas industry (ASME Section VIII, B31.3, API 610, 650, 653).
- Strong background in conducting engineering calculations for stress analysis, equipment sizing, and hydraulic analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing technical specifications, datasheets, and procurement documents for mechanical equipment.
