Vira International Placement Pvt Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and vigilant Life Guard to join our client's premier facility management team in Wadi Kabir, Muscat. Primary Duties and Lifeguard Responsibilities
As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure aquatic environment and responding effectively to emergencies. Your core duties will encompass a wide range of water safety and facility management tasks.
Surveillance and Prevention
- Maintain constant and vigilant surveillance of patrons in the aquatic facility, identifying potential safety risks and preventing accidents.
- Enforce all pool safety rules and regulations consistently and fairly to prevent dangerous behaviors and ensure a safe swimming environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the pool area, equipment, and water quality, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues immediately.
- Monitor weather conditions and environmental factors that may affect patron safety, taking appropriate action when necessary.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operations
- Execute rapid and efficient water rescue operations using appropriate techniques and equipment for distressed swimmers, active drownings, and passive drownings.
- Provide emergency first aid, CPR, and AED care when necessary until emergency medical services arrive on scene.
- Activate and manage the emergency action plan (EAP) during critical incidents, directing other staff members and coordinating with emergency services.
- Conduct regular drills and practice scenarios to maintain peak readiness for various emergency situations, from spinal injuries to cardiac events.
Training and Public Education
- Develop and implement comprehensive water safety education programs for patrons of all ages and skill levels.
- Instruct swimming lessons and water safety courses, adapting teaching methods to different learning styles and abilities.
- Mentor and train junior lifeguard staff in proper surveillance techniques, rescue skills, and emergency response protocols.
- Create and maintain training documentation, incident reports, and safety records in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Facility Maintenance and Operations
- Assist with daily pool maintenance tasks, including chemical testing, filtration system checks, and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure all rescue equipment, first aid supplies, and safety gear are properly maintained, stocked, and readily accessible.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to review procedures, address concerns, and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service to facility patrons, answering questions, addressing concerns, and promoting a positive aquatic experience.
Lifeguard Qualifications and Skill Requirements
This position requires a unique combination of advanced education, extensive experience, and specialized certifications in aquatic safety and emergency response.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Doctorate degree in Recreation Management, Sports Science, Emergency Medicine, or related field required.
- Current internationally recognized lifeguard certification (RLSS, ILS, or equivalent) with water rescue specialization.
- Advanced certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and Oxygen Administration.
- Additional certifications in Water Safety Instruction, Lifeguard Instructor training, and Emergency Response Coordination preferred.
Experience and Technical Skills
- Minimum 5-10 years of professional lifeguarding experience in high-volume aquatic facilities or open water environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in water safety protocols, surveillance techniques, and rescue operations management.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for lifeguard staff and aquatic safety personnel.
