Key Responsibilities & Duties

As the Maintenance Supervisor for Instrumentation, you will be tasked with a critical set of responsibilities that are essential to the smooth and safe operation of our petrochemical facilities. Your core duties will encompass a wide range of technical and leadership functions.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to a team of skilled instrumentation technicians and engineers.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily maintenance work orders, ensuring optimal manpower utilization and adherence to planned schedules.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety-first mentality within the team.
  • Manage contractor activities, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with company standards and safety protocols.

Maintenance Operations Management

  • Oversee the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all instrumentation and control systems, including DCS, PLCs, pressure transmitters, flow meters, control valves, and fire & gas systems.
  • Develop and implement robust maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and availability while minimizing downtime.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex instrumentation faults, providing technical expertise to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are executed in strict compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures.

Planning & Administration

  • Collaborate with the planning team to develop and manage the annual maintenance budget for the instrumentation section.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and inventory of critical spares using the plant’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Review and approve technical reports, maintenance procedures, and method statements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions as required.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

To be successful in this high-stakes role within the Oil & Gas sector in Qatar, candidates must possess a strong combination of formal education and extensive practical experience.

Essential Education

  • A minimum of a Graduation/Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 10+ Years of progressive experience in instrumentation maintenance, with at least 5 years in a dedicated supervision or team lead role within the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry.
  • Proven hands-on experience with the maintenance and calibration of a wide array of field instruments and control systems (e.g., Emerson, Yokogawa, Honeywell, Siemens).
  • Demonstrable expertise in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards and best practices relevant to instrumentation in hazardous areas (e.g., IEC 61511, ATEX).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a multi-cultural workforce.
  • A solid understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
