Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Mechanical Engineer at our firm, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing operations. Your primary focus will be on structural fabrication, requiring precision, innovation, and a deep understanding of mechanical systems.

• Develop comprehensive structural fabrication plans and detailed drawings using advanced CAD software for various manufacturing projects.
• Lead the planning and execution of fabrication projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet all technical specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.
• Perform rigorous structural analysis and calculations to ensure designs can withstand stresses, pressures, and environmental factors, guaranteeing integrity and safety.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production managers, welders, and other engineers, to optimize fabrication processes and resolve technical challenges.
• Select appropriate materials, components, and equipment for fabrication projects, considering factors like strength, durability, cost, and availability.
• Implement and enforce strict quality control protocols throughout the fabrication lifecycle, conducting inspections and tests to ensure compliance with international standards.
• Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design specifications, progress reports, material lists, and as-built drawings.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains within the fabrication workflow.
• Ensure all engineering activities adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

To excel in this Mechanical Engineer role, the candidate must possess a combination of formal education, practical experience, and specific technical skills.

Education & Certification

• A Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Additional certifications in structural engineering, welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP, AWS), or project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.

Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 yearsstructural fabrication planning within the manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrable experience in managing full-cycle fabrication projects, from initial design and material selection to final installation and commissioning.
• Proven track record of working with heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, or similar fabricated products.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Expert proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar programs for creating detailed fabrication drawings.
• In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, machining, and assembly.
• Strong understanding of international codes and standards relevant to structural fabrication (e.g., ASME, AWS, ANSI, ISO).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform complex calculations and structural analyses.
• Strong project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment and liaising with clients and stakeholders.
