Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a Mechanical Engineer within our client's dynamic real estate team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of mechanical system implementation. Your core responsibilities will encompass the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept to final commissioning and handover.
Design & Engineering
- Design and analyze sophisticated HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building services for new construction and renovation projects.
- Perform detailed load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/pipework design using industry-standard software and manual methods.
- Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, design reports, and detailed mechanical drawings in compliance with Omani standards and international codes.
- Collaborate closely with architects, electrical engineers, and structural engineers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall building design.
- Review and approve contractor-submitted shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
Project Management & Supervision
- Manage and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all mechanical systems on site to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor work progress, identify potential issues, and enforce strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical challenges and ensure smooth workflow.
- Monitor project budgets related to mechanical works, track variations, and control costs effectively.
- Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers and draftsmen, providing technical guidance and support.
Testing & Compliance
- Oversee all testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) activities for HVAC systems to achieve optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Ensure all mechanical installations comply with local municipality regulations, civil defense requirements, and environmental standards in Oman.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and project close-out reports.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Mandatory Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Engineer, specifically within the real estate, construction, or consulting engineering industry.
- Proven expertise in the design and project management of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems for high-rise buildings, malls, or large residential complexes.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, and similar engineering tools.
- In-depth knowledge of international mechanical codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IPC) and a strong understanding of local Omani regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues on site.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional engineering certification or charter status (e.g., PMP, CEM) is a significant advantage.
