Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Rotary Equipment) at our facility, your core function will be to maintain the mechanical integrity of all rotating assets. Your daily tasks will be critical to our plant's operational efficiency and safety.

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of a wide range of rotary equipment including, but not limited to: centrifugal pumps, reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, gearboxes, fans, blowers, and motors.
  • Execute detailed preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) schedules as per manufacturer recommendations and engineering guidelines.
  • Conduct precision alignment of machinery using laser alignment tools and perform dynamic balancing of rotating components to mitigate vibration issues.
  • Analyze vibration data and other condition monitoring outputs to diagnose faults and recommend corrective actions before failure occurs.
  • Disassemble, inspect, measure, and reassemble equipment, ensuring all clearances, tolerances, and assembly procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Replace mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and other critical components with a high degree of precision and craftsmanship.
  • Collaborate with the reliability engineering team to perform root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history files within our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Adhere strictly to all company and industry-standard safety protocols, including lockout-tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work (PTW) systems, and confined space entry procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, diagnose issues efficiently, and execute repairs to minimize production downtime.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this technically demanding role, the candidate must meet the following criteria and possess a strong foundational knowledge of mechanical systems.

Education & Certification

  • A Diploma or Graduation in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution is required.
  • Certifications in machinery vibration analysis (Category II or above), alignment, or other relevant technical fields are a significant advantage.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of proven, hands-on experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, specifically working with rotary equipment.
