Key Responsibilities & Duties

As an MEP Draftsman specializing in Electrical systems, you will be a crucial member of our Electrical Engineering department. Your primary focus will be on producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation that adhere to international standards and project specifications.

Detailed Drafting and Design

• Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for building services, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-current systems using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical load schedules, panel schedules, and single-line diagrams (SLD) to ensure accurate load calculations and system coordination.
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and material take-offs from finalized drawings for procurement and costing purposes.
• Generate and update as-built drawings to reflect changes made during the construction phase.

Coordination and Collaboration

• Work closely with senior electrical engineers, project managers, and other MEP draftsmen (mechanical and plumbing) to ensure seamless integration of all building systems.
• Coordinate with architects and structural engineers to resolve clashes and ensure the electrical design is feasible within the overall building design.
• Attend project meetings to understand design requirements and provide drafting updates.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Ensure all electrical drawings and documentation comply with relevant Saudi Arabian codes, international standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC), and company quality procedures.
• Perform regular checks and reviews of own work to eliminate errors and ensure the highest level of accuracy before submission.
• Assist in the technical submission process for client and consultant approvals.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this MEP Draftsman – Electrical role, you must possess a combination of formal education, practical experience, and technical proficiency.

Education & Experience

• Education: A Graduation or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a directly related field is mandatory.
• Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as an MEP draftsman, with a specific and strong focus on electrical systems within the construction industry.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing previous work on electrical drawings for construction projects is required.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. Strong working knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes is highly desirable.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of electrical systems, components, and electrical load schedules. Familiarity with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) regulations and international electrical codes is a significant advantage.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in creating and reviewing technical drawings.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering team.
