Key Responsibilities
The Crane Operator will be entrusted with a range of critical duties that ensure the smooth functioning of our manufacturing operations. Your primary focus will be on the safe crane operation of overhead, crawler, mobile, and gantry cranes, adhering to all safety protocols and company guidelines.
Operational Duties
- Operate overhead, crawler, mobile, and gantry cranes to lift, move, position, and place machinery, equipment, and materials with precision.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance checks to ensure optimal functionality and identify any potential issues.
- Interpret and follow hand signals, voice commands, and radio communications from riggers and other team members to coordinate lifts.
- Calculate load capacities and determine the weight of materials to ensure safe lifting practices and prevent equipment overload.
- Inspect cables, hooks, and rigging equipment before each use to maintain the highest safety standards.
- Maintain detailed logs of materials moved, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and UAE regulatory requirements for crane operations.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and toolbox talks to reinforce a culture of safety awareness.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, near misses, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.
- Ensure proper rigging techniques are employed for all lifts, verifying load stability before movement.
- Follow established emergency procedures in the event of equipment failure or accident.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with riggers, signalers, and other ground personnel to execute lifting plans efficiently and safely.
- Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of lifting requirements and potential challenges.
- Provide guidance to apprentices or less experienced operators when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this Overhead Crane Operator position, candidates must meet the following criteria and possess the necessary credentials for operating heavy lifting equipment in the UAE.
Education & Certification
- Minimum educational requirement: Graduation/Diploma in a relevant technical field.
- Valid UAE crane operator certification/license for overhead, crawler, mobile, and gantry cranes is mandatory.
- Additional certification in rigging and signaling is highly desirable.
- Completion of recognized apprenticeship program or technical training in crane operation.
Experience & Skills
- 1-3 years of proven experience operating various types of cranes in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in safe crane operation practices and procedures.
- Strong understanding of load charts, crane capacities, and rigging principles.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Excellent depth perception and hand-eye coordination for precise load placement.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions when operating mobile cranes.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and material handling requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This Crane Operator position is based at our manufacturing facility in Ghantoot, Abu Dhabi. The role involves working in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Operators will spend extended periods in crane cabins or operating stations, requiring sustained concentration. The position demands:
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated crane cabins multiple times per shift
- Comfort with working at heights for extended periods
- Physical capability to perform pre-operation inspections, which may involve bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Visual acuity to read gauges, dials, and load charts, and to judge distances accurately
- Normal hearing ability to respond to signals and warnings
- Manual dexterity to operate controls with precision
All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, and strict safety protocols are enforced to ensure operator well-being.
