Painting / Coating Supervisors – Oil & Gas Industry

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Painting / Coating Supervisor to join our Quality Assurance (QA) team in the Oil & Gas sector. The role requires ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards, overseeing coating applications, and maintaining high-quality surface preparation and protective coating processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial painting, corrosion control, and project supervision within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate painting and coating activities in compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Inspect surface preparation, coating application, and curing processes to ensure quality adherence.
• Monitor environmental conditions (humidity, temperature) to ensure optimal coating performance.
• Conduct pre-job meetings with contractors and technicians to outline scope, safety protocols, and deadlines.
• Review and approve coating materials, equipment, and procedures before project commencement.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Train and mentor junior staff on coating techniques and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to address technical challenges.
• Prepare and submit daily progress reports to management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education:

• Diploma or Graduation in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Certifications in NACE, SSPC, or FROSIO (preferred).

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in painting and coating supervision within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven expertise in QA/QC standards for industrial coatings.
• Hands-on experience with surface preparation methods (abrasive blasting, power tools).
• Familiarity with protective coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers).

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and NACE coating standards.
• Ability to operate coating inspection tools (DFT gauges, adhesion testers).
• Strong understanding of corrosion prevention and control.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication in English (written and verbal).

Working Conditions

• Location: On-site in Abu Dhabi; no remote work available.
• Environment: Industrial settings (refineries, pipelines, offshore platforms).
• Schedule: Full-time, with potential overtime based on project demands.
• Travel: Occasional site visits within the UAE may be required.
