Job Overview: Painting Inspector Position

This is a full-time position ideal for professionals with 5-10 years of dedicated experience in coating inspection and surface preparation within demanding industrial environments. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the highest QA/QC standards are met for all painting and coating applications on our major projects, safeguarding asset integrity and longevity. This role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from 21 to 28 LPA.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Painting Inspector at Ambe International, you will be at the forefront of our quality assurance efforts. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the structural integrity and corrosion protection of critical assets. Your primary duties will include:
- Conducting thorough inspections of surface preparation, including abrasive blasting to specified standards (SA 2.5, SA 3, etc.).
- Performing in-process and final inspections of paint and coating applications to ensure compliance with project specifications, technical data sheets, and international standards.
- Utilizing a range of inspection equipment such as DFT gauges (dry film thickness), hygrometers, surface profile comparators, and environmental meters with precision and accuracy.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate daily inspection reports, logs, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) to document quality compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Reviewing and verifying contractor qualifications, coating procedures, and material data sheets prior to the commencement of work activities.
- Liaising with project managers, clients, and coating contractors to resolve any quality-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Ensuring all painting and coating operations adhere to strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols on-site.
- Monitoring ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) to ensure they are within acceptable parameters for coating application.
- Performing adhesion tests and other destructive/non-destructive tests as required by the project's quality plan.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Professional Certifications
- A Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory.
- Possession of relevant professional certifications is highly desirable. These include but are not limited to:
- NACE Certified Coatings Inspector (NACE Level 2 or 3)
- BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Certification
- FROSIO Inspector Certification (Level III preferred)
Essential Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience as a Painting Inspector, specifically within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of international QA/QC standards and specifications such as ISO 12944, NORSOK M-501, SSPC, and ASTM standards.
- Extensive hands-on experience with inspection techniques for various coating systems, including epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers, and fireproofing materials.
- Demonstrable experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings, project specifications, and P&IDs.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and make sound technical decisions under pressure.
