Key Responsibilities
As a Piping / Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and maintaining piping systems for oil & gas facilities. Your role will include:
- Designing and developing piping layouts, isometrics, and P&IDs for oil & gas projects.
- Performing stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, and material selection for pipelines.
- Ensuring compliance with ASME, ANSI, API, and other industry standards.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (civil, electrical, instrumentation) for project execution.
- Conducting site inspections, quality checks, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Preparing technical reports, cost estimates, and procurement specifications.
- Managing project schedules, budgets, and contractor coordination.
- Ensuring adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS, CAESAR II, or similar piping design software.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline fabrication, welding, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes.
- Familiarity with pressure vessel design, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and GA layouts.
Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience in managing contractors and junior engineers.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certifications in ASME, API, or NDT are preferred.
- Valid Oman work permit or willingness to relocate.
Work Environment
This role is based in Muscat, Oman, and involves a mix of office and site work. Candidates should expect:
