Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Heavy Equipment Planner, you will be the cornerstone of our maintenance department, ensuring all machinery is operating at peak performance. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive maintenance schedules and resource plans.

  • Develop and implement detailed maintenance plans and schedules for a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and loaders.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to align equipment availability with project demands and critical path timelines.
  • Conduct thorough resource planning, including manpower, tools, and spare parts, to execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities efficiently.
  • Utilize advanced planning software and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track equipment history, predict failures, and optimize maintenance workflows.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and downtime reports to identify trends and implement proactive measures to enhance reliability and reduce costs.
  • Liaise with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors for technical support, parts procurement, and warranty claims.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with stringent industry safety standards, company policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, providing cost estimates and justifications for repairs and part replacements.
  • Lead planning meetings and provide technical guidance to the maintenance team to ensure clarity of tasks and objectives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this equipment planning role, the candidate must meet the following criteria and possess a blend of technical knowledge and practical experience.

Education & Experience

  • A Graduation degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience in a planner role, specifically focused on heavy equipment within the Oil & Gas, construction, or a similar heavy industry.
  • Demonstrable experience with maintenance planning and scheduling for large-scale industrial projects.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in Planning: Mastery in developing strategic maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • CMMS Proficiency: High proficiency in using maintenance management software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, etc.) for data analysis and decision-making.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong capability to analyze performance metrics and downtime data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Project Coordination: Excellent skills in coordinating multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
