Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Planning Engineer at Ambe International, you will be the cornerstone of our project management office. Your analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail will drive project efficiency and success.
Project Scheduling & Control
- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive, resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project, integrating all project phases from initiation to close-out.
- Perform critical path method (CPM) analysis to identify potential bottlenecks and proactively recommend solutions to keep the project on track.
- Monitor project progress, prepare periodic status reports, and analyze variances between baseline schedules and actual performance.
- Liaise with project managers, construction managers, and discipline engineers to gather progress data and validate schedule updates.
Cost & Resource Management
- Assist in the development of project cost estimates and budgets, ensuring alignment with the project timeline and resource requirements.
- Track and report on project expenditures, highlighting any trends that may lead to a cost overrun.
- Forecast manpower, equipment, and material requirements based on the project schedule to ensure optimal resource allocation.
Technical Planning for Painting & Corrosion Control
- Develop specialized schedules and method statements for surface preparation, industrial painting, and application of protective coatings, a critical skill for this role.
- Coordinate with inspection teams to schedule quality control checks for coating applications, ensuring compliance with international standards (NACE, SSPC).
- Integrate blasting and painting activities within the overall construction schedule, considering environmental factors and material curing times.
Risk & Reporting
- Identify and assess schedule-related risks and opportunities, proposing mitigation and capture plans.
- Prepare and present detailed project performance reports to senior management and stakeholders, including Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this senior Planning Engineer role, candidates must demonstrate a proven track record in the Oil & Gas or related heavy industries.
Education & Core Experience
- A Graduation/Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field) is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of direct experience as a Planning Engineer, with a significant portion within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
- Must possess extensive hands-on experience in planning and sequencing painting, coating, and corrosion protection activities for pipelines, tanks, and structural steel.
- Proven expertise in using industry-standard scheduling software, primarily Oracle Primavera P6.
Essential Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in schedule development, baseline maintenance, and progress measurement.
- In-depth knowledge of painting procedures, specifications, and international standards relevant to the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, cost control, and risk management.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
