Planning Engineers: Oil & Gas Project Specialists

Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Planning Engineer at IOC, you will be the cornerstone of our project management team. Your expertise will be critical in developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules to achieve optimal resource allocation and project flow. Your daily tasks will involve deep analysis and proactive communication to keep all stakeholders aligned and informed.
Core Planning & Scheduling Functions
- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive, resource-loaded project schedules using industry-standard software like Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Perform critical path method (CPM) analysis to identify project bottlenecks and potential delays, providing actionable insights to the project management team.
- Prepare and present detailed schedule status reports, including earned value management (EVM) metrics, to project managers, clients, and senior leadership.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, construction managers, and discipline engineers to integrate all aspects of the project into a single, coherent plan.
- Monitor project progress against baselined schedules, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions or recovery plans to mitigate schedule impacts.
Project Control & Reporting
- Establish and maintain the project's Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) in alignment with the project's execution plan.
- Lead regular schedule review meetings with internal teams and external contractors to ensure alignment and address any scheduling conflicts.
- Generate 'what-if' scenarios to assess the impact of potential changes or delays on the overall project timeline and final deliverables.
- Interface with cost engineers to ensure the integration of cost and schedule data for a complete project performance picture.
- Ensure all planning and scheduling activities adhere to company standards, client requirements, and best practices in the Oil & Gas industry.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Formal Education & Certifications
- A minimum of a Graduation/Diploma in Engineering is mandatory. A degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) are a significant advantage.
- Advanced certification or proven expertise in Oracle Primavera P6 is essential for this role.
Professional Experience
- A solid 5-10 Years of hands-on experience as a Planning Engineer, specifically within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrable experience in planning for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects from conception to close-out.
- Proven track record in developing project baselines, conducting delay analysis, and creating detailed progress reports for mega-projects.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Expert Proficiency: Mastery of Oracle Primavera P6 is non-negotiable. High proficiency in MS Project and MS Office Suite is also required.
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and risk assessment related to project timelines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex schedule information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, reliable project schedules.
