Key Responsibilities and Duties
As our Plumbing Supervisor, your primary duty will be to manage all on-site plumbing activities. Your daily tasks will require a deep understanding of plumbing codes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of plumbers, fitters, and apprentices on the construction site.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and wastewater disposal systems.
- Ensure all plumbing installations and repairs comply with local Abu Dhabi and UAE building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Inspect work sites to assess project scope, identify potential obstacles, and determine the materials and equipment required.
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trade supervisors (e.g., electrical, HVAC) to ensure seamless integration of all building systems.
- Conduct rigorous quality control checks on all completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Manage the inventory of materials, tools, and equipment; place orders and control costs to remain within the project budget.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex plumbing issues that arise during the construction phase.
- Maintain accurate daily progress reports, time sheets, and project documentation.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to create a hazard-free work environment, conducting regular toolbox talks.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior plumbers and team members to enhance their skills.
Plumbing Supervisor Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this supervisory role, candidates must possess a combination of formal education, relevant experience, and demonstrable skills in plumbing and team management.
Education & Certification
- A Graduation Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, or a closely related field is mandatory.
- Relevant professional certifications or vocational training in plumbing is highly desirable.
- Certification in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA, IOSH, or equivalent) is a significant advantage.
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience working as a Plumbing Supervisor, Foreman, or Lead Plumber on large-scale construction projects.
- Extensive hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex plumbing systems, including water supply, sanitary, stormwater, and gas lines.
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and best practices, particularly those relevant to the UAE region.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a proven ability to direct and motivate a team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with management, clients, and other trades.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and communication purposes (e.g., MS Word, Excel, email).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in a construction environment.
