Key Responsibilities
The Project Control Engineer (Mechanical) will undertake a diverse range of critical functions to ensure the successful delivery of oil and gas projects. Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules for mechanical engineering components of oil and gas facilities
- Implement comprehensive project control systems to track progress, costs, and resources throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with mechanical engineering teams to establish realistic timelines and milestones for project deliverables
- Perform critical path analysis and identify potential schedule risks and opportunities for optimization
- Prepare detailed progress reports, variance analyses, and forecast updates for project stakeholders
- Monitor project expenditures against budgets and provide cost control recommendations

- Conduct regular site visits to verify physical progress against scheduled activities
- Facilit project coordination meetings with mechanical contractors and engineering teams

- Provide technical input on mechanical systems during project planning and execution phases
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Certification
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Project Controls is highly desirable
- Additional certifications in oil and gas operations or mechanical systems are advantageous
Experience
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in project controls within the oil and gas industry
- Demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering project scheduling and cost control
- Proven track record of managing project controls for large-scale mechanical installations
- Experience with upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas projects
- Familiarity with mechanical systems including piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and HVAC systems
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in earned value management
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards (API, ASME, ANSI)
