Key Responsibilities

The Project Control Engineer (Mechanical) will undertake a diverse range of critical functions to ensure the successful delivery of oil and gas projects. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Implement comprehensive project control systems to track progress, costs, and resources throughout the project lifecycle

  • Prepare detailed progress reports, variance analyses, and forecast updates for project stakeholders

  • Conduct regular site visits to verify physical progress against scheduled activities
  • Facilit project coordination meetings with mechanical contractors and engineering teams

  • Provide technical input on mechanical systems during project planning and execution phases

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Project Controls is highly desirable
  • Additional certifications in oil and gas operations or mechanical systems are advantageous

Experience

  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in project controls within the oil and gas industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering project scheduling and cost control
  • Proven track record of managing project controls for large-scale mechanical installations
  • Experience with upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas projects
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems including piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and HVAC systems

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in earned value management
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards (API, ASME, ANSI)
  • Experience with cost management systems and financial reporting tools
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
