Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
As a Tank Project Engineer at Ambe International, you will be at the forefront of our engineering operations, responsible for the entire lifecycle of tank projects. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering robust and reliable storage solutions for the oil and gas sector.
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of storage tank projects from conception to completion.
- Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client specifications and company goals.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and process engineers, to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Oversite of construction activities, ensuring adherence to engineering drawings, codes, and standards (e.g., API 650, API 653).
Technical Design & Engineering
- Perform and review engineering calculations for tank foundations, shell design, roof structures, and nozzle connections.
- Specify materials and equipment required for tank construction, including steel plates, coatings, and heating systems.
- Manage the technical deliverables for the project, including P&IDs, isometric drawings, data sheets, and material take-offs.
- Ensure all designs comply with international standards, client requirements, and HSE regulations.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Implement rigorous quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify workmanship and material quality.
- Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all project activities are performed in accordance with the company's HSE policies.
- Investigate and resolve any technical issues or non-conformances that arise during fabrication or construction.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials and services, coordinating with the supply chain department.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
To be successful in this demanding Project Engineer role within the oil and gas sector, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education
- A Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Advanced degrees or professional certifications (P.Eng, PMP) related to project engineering or tank design are highly desirable.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience in managing tank-related project deliverables within the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with the design, fabrication, and construction of atmospheric storage tanks, pressurized vessels, and spherical tanks.
- Strong familiarity with relevant international codes and standards, including API 650, API 653, ASME Section VIII, and ASME B31.3.
- Prior experience working on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects in the Middle East, particularly the UAE, is a significant advantage.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PV Elite, and STAAD.Pro.
