Job Overview: Instrumentation Quality Assurance in the Heart of Qatar's Oil & Gas Sector

This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Al Sadd district, offering a competitive annual salary package ranging from 21 to 28 LPA (Lakhs Per Annum). The ideal candidate will be a qualified graduate or diploma holder with 5-10 years of dedicated experience in implementing and upholding rigorous QA/QC standards for instrumentation systems within the demanding energy sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of critical control and measurement systems.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a QA-QC Engineer specializing in instrumentation, you will be the guardian of quality for all instrument-related activities on the project. Your expertise will be critical from the initial inspection of materials to the final commissioning checks, ensuring every component and system meets the highest international standards and project specifications.
Quality Control and Assurance Planning
- Develop, review, and approve comprehensive ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans) for instrumentation works.
- Create detailed method statements and quality procedures specific to calibration, installation, and loop checking.
- Maintain and update all quality control documentation, including logs, reports, and certificates.
- Ensure strict adherence to project specifications, international codes (e.g., ISA, IEC, ANSI), and company QA/QC standards.
Inspection and Testing
- Perform meticulous incoming inspections (MRR) for all instrumentation equipment and materials (transmitters, control valves, analyzers, tubing, cables, etc.).
- Witness and oversee calibration processes for pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments in the workshop and field.
- Manage and document loop checks, function tests, and pre-commissioning activities for all instrument loops.
- Conduct in-process inspections during installation activities, such as cable laying, tray installation, junction box mounting, and instrument mounting.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client representatives for hold point inspections and approvals.
Compliance and Reporting
- Identify, document, and track non-conformities (NCRs); initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform internal audits of processes and subcontractors to ensure compliance with the quality management system.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to the QA/QC Manager and project management.
- Ensure all as-built documentation and test records are accurately compiled and handed over to the client.
Requirements and Qualifications
To excel in this challenging role within Qatar's dynamic Oil & Gas industry, the candidate must possess a combination of formal education, proven experience, and specific technical knowledge.
Education & Certification
- Graduation/Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Certifications in relevant QA/QC standards (e.g., ISO 9001, API, CWI, NACE) are highly desirable.
- Certifications in functional safety (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Engineer) would be a significant advantage.
Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 Years of hands-on experience as a QA-QC Engineer - Instrument within the Oil & Gas sector, specifically in EPC projects.
- In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to instrumentation (e.g., ISA, IEC 61511, IEC 60079, ANSI/ISA-84.00.01).
- Proven experience with the inspection and calibration of field instruments, DCS/PLC systems, and analytical equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, and layout drawings.
- Strong understanding of hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx) and associated installation requirements.
