QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Quality Control team in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of hands-on experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, with in-depth knowledge of ASME/API Standards. This role involves ensuring mechanical systems and components meet stringent quality requirements for safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement QA/QC procedures for mechanical systems in compliance with ASME, API, and industry standards.
- Conduct inspections of materials, welding, fabrication, and installations per project specifications.
- Review and approve contractor quality control plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) coordination and evaluate results for piping, pressure vessels, and structural components.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate with third-party inspection agencies.
- Maintain detailed quality documentation, including inspection reports and compliance certificates.
- Investigate and resolve non-conformances, implementing corrective/preventive actions.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams on mechanical quality standards.
- Monitor supplier/subcontractor quality performance and conduct surveillance audits.
- Ensure all mechanical deliverables comply with project HSE requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Certification in ASME Section VIII, API 510/570/653 preferred.
- CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI certification for welding inspection.
Experience
- 5-10 years in QA/QC engineering within Oil & Gas projects.
- Proven experience with pressure equipment, piping systems, and rotating machinery.
- Hands-on experience with NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT).
- Familiarity with international codes: ASME B31.3, API 650/620, ASTM standards.
- Experience with QA/QC documentation for EPC projects.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in interpreting engineering drawings (P&IDs, isometrics).
- Proficient in quality management systems (ISO 9001).
- Strong knowledge of material verification and MTR review.
- Experience with weld mapping and heat treatment monitoring.
- Familiarity with calibration systems for measurement equipment.
Work Environment
This position is based at our facility in Sawābir, Kuwait City, with occasional site visits to project locations. The role requires:
- Full-time office/field presence (not remote)
- Compliance with PPE requirements in industrial areas
- Readiness to work extended hours during critical project phases
- Participation in safety observations and HSE initiatives
