Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a QA-QC Engineer specializing in piping systems, you will perform comprehensive quality assurance and quality control functions throughout project lifecycles:
Quality Assurance Functions
- Develop and implement piping quality control plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and quality procedures in accordance with international standards
- Conduct thorough audits of piping fabrication and installation processes to ensure compliance with project specifications
- Review and approve contractor quality documents, including method statements, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports
- Monitor welding procedures, specifications, and qualifications for piping systems and related components
- Maintain comprehensive quality records and documentation for all piping activities and inspections
Quality Control & Inspection
- Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, and non-destructive testing (NDT) verification of piping components
- Witness pressure tests, leak tests, and other critical validation procedures for pipeline systems
- Verify material certifications and traceability for all piping materials, valves, fittings, and supports
- Monitor corrosion protection systems, including coating and insulation application for piping networks
- Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and client representatives for joint inspections
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to international codes and standards including ASME, ANSI, API, and client-specific requirements
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, non-conformities, and corrective actions for piping systems
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports highlighting inspection results and compliance status
- Participate in quality meetings and provide technical input regarding piping quality concerns
- Support commissioning and handover activities by verifying piping system integrity and documentation completeness
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field
- Professional certification in welding inspection (CSWIP, AWS) or quality management preferred
- NDT Level II certification in relevant methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) highly desirable
- Additional certifications in pipeline engineering, corrosion protection, or quality auditing advantageous
Experience & Technical Skills
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in QA-QC engineering with specific focus on piping systems
- Extensive background in oil and gas industry projects, preferably in Middle Eastern markets
- Comprehensive knowledge of piping materials, fabrication methods, and installation techniques
- Proven expertise in interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of welding processes, procedures, and defect recognition
- Familiarity with pressure vessel codes, pipeline standards, and safety regulations
