Job Responsibilities & Duties

As a QA-QC Structural Engineer, you will be the guardian of quality and safety for major Oil & Gas projects. Your primary focus will be on ensuring all structural components meet the highest international standards and project specifications.

• Develop, implement, and manage the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and all related inspection and test plans (ITPs) for structural activities.
• Conduct rigorous inspections of structural materials (steel, rebar, concrete) upon receipt, during fabrication, and throughout the installation and construction phases.
• Perform and witness various tests, including non-destructive testing (NDT), weld inspections, concrete slump tests, and compressive strength tests, ensuring compliance with approved procedures.
• Maintain comprehensive quality control documentation, including inspection reports, material certifications, method statements, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Liaise directly with clients, third-party inspectors, and certification authorities to facilitate approvals and resolve any quality-related issues promptly.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to approved drawings, codes, standards, and safety protocols.
• Lead root cause analysis for any structural defects or non-conformities and oversee the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Provide technical guidance to the project team on all matters related to structural QA/QC, interpreting international codes like AISC, ASTM, ACI, and API.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the company's integrated management system and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a pervasive culture of quality and safety excellence across the project site.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

To excel in this QA QC Engineer role within the Oil & Gas industry in Qatar, the ideal candidate will possess a blend of formal education, extensive experience, and specific technical competencies.

Education & Certification

• A Graduation/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory.
• Professional certifications such as CSWIP, AWS CWI, NACE, or BGAS are highly desirable and will be given strong preference.
• Certification in NDT methods (UT, RT, MT, PT) is a significant advantage.

Experience & Skills

• A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience in a QA-QC Engineer role, with a specific focus on structural disciplines.
• Demonstrable experience working on large-scale Oil & Gas projects, such as pipelines, pressure vessels, process modules, or offshore platforms.
• In-depth, practical knowledge of international QA/QC standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1, ASME, ANSI).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex structural drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and a zero-compromise attitude towards quality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to authoritatively liaise with a multicultural project team and client representatives.
• Proficiency in standard MS Office applications and experience with document management systems.
