Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

The successful candidate will be entrusted with a wide array of critical tasks central to project quality and safety. Your primary duties as our QA-QC Inspector for Scaffolding will include:

  • Conducting thorough inspections of all scaffolding structures, including tube and fitting scaffolds, system scaffolds, and modular structures, prior to handover for use.
  • Meticulously verifying that all scaffolding assemblies strictly comply with project specifications, approved design drawings, and relevant international standards (e.g., OSHA, BS, EN).
  • Performing daily audits and monitoring of scaffolding activities to ensure ongoing compliance with safety and quality protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation, including checklists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and permits-to-work.
  • Liaising directly with construction supervisors, scaffold superintendents, and project engineers to communicate quality status and resolve any non-compliance issues promptly.
  • Ensuring all materials used in scaffolding, such as tubes, boards, and couplers, meet required material certifications and are in good, defect-free condition.
  • Participating in project safety meetings and providing input on scaffolding-related safety plans and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Monitoring environmental conditions that may affect scaffold integrity, such as high winds or heavy rain, and advising on necessary safety precautions.
  • Inspecting and approving the installation of edge protection, toe boards, ladder access points, and other critical safety components.
  • Staying updated on the latest industry best practices, QA/QC standards, and technological advancements in scaffolding systems.

Mandatory Qualifications & Skill Requirements

To excel in this high-stakes role within the Oil & Gas industry, the ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications and demonstrable skills:

Education & Formal Certification

  • A Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional certification in scaffolding inspection (e.g., CISRS Scaffolding Inspector, OSHA recognized certification) is mandatory.
  • Certification in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods is a significant advantage.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of proven hands-on experience as a QA-QC Inspector, specifically focused on scaffolding within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy construction industries.
  • Demonstrable experience working on large-scale industrial projects, with a deep understanding of greenfield and brownfield site constraints.

Technical Knowledge & Core Competencies

  • Expert-level knowledge of international QA/QC standards and statutory regulations governing scaffolding.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, design specifications, and load capacity charts for complex scaffolding structures.
  • Strong understanding of material properties and the ability to identify defects or non-conforming materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a uncompromising commitment to safety excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and liaison with multi-cultural project teams.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work at height and in various weather conditions on a large construction site.
