Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a QA-QC Inspector specializing in Steel Structural works, your primary mandate is to prevent defects and ensure compliance at every stage of the project lifecycle. Your day-to-day functions will be pivotal to project success and overall structural integrity.

• Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, including steel plates, sections, and welding consumables, verifying material certifications against project specifications.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of structural steel fabrication, including cutting, fitting, welding, and bolting operations.
• Monitor and inspect all welding activities, ensuring procedures and welder qualifications are strictly adhered to; perform visual (VT) and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT).
• Review and verify that all fabrication and erection activities align with approved drawings, method statements, ITPs, and relevant codes (e.g., AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME).
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation (e.g., Inspection Test Reports, Material Certification, NDT reports).
• Identify, document, and report any non-conformances; initiate and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.
• Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, client representatives, and subcontractors to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
• Ensure all inspection and measuring equipment is calibrated and has valid certificates.
• Promote a continuous safety culture by ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site HSE policies and procedures.
• Attend and provide input during quality meetings and audits.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for this pivotal role within our Quality Control department, candidates must possess a blend of formal education, proven experience, and specific technical competencies.

Education & Certification

• A Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field is mandatory.
• Professional certifications such as CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, or NDT Level II certifications (UT, RT, MPT, DPT) are highly preferred and considered a significant advantage.
• Certification in ISO 9001 (QMS) or relevant quality auditor certifications are a plus.

Experience & Skills

• A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience as a QA/QC Inspector, specifically focused on steel structural fabrication and erection within the Oil & Gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to structural steel (e.g., AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section IX, API, ISO).
• Extensive hands-on experience with various QA/QC standards and NDT methodologies.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications for report generation.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and interact with diverse project teams.
